چکیده

A system of four coupled rate equations for the development of the densities of mobile and redundant dislocations and of mobile and immobile disclinations with time or strain is proposed to describe the microstructure evolution up to large strains. The densities of redundant dislocations and of immobile disclinations are connected to ow stress contributions with the help of Mughrabi's composite model, a Hall-Petch type law for cell block hardening and a misorientation-related contribution for hardening due to the long-range stress elds of disclinations. The disclination concept is connrmed by showing a triple junction at the splitting point of a dense dislocation wall into a rst generation microband in 50 % cold rolled polycrystalline copper to be a defect of disclination type.

Interpretation of Plastic Deformation by Means of a Dislocation-Disclination Reaction Kinetics

The microstructure development under plastic deformation up to large strains is modelled by means of a four-component reaction kinetics for the densities of mobile and immobile dislocations and disclinations. The resulting system of nonlinear differential equations is able to describe the transition from a dislocation-dominated to a disclination-controlled kinetics running into a (quasi-)statio...

Atomic-level observation of disclination dipoles in mechanically milled, nanocrystalline Fe.

Plastic deformation of materials occurs by the motion of defects known as dislocations and disclinations. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy was used to directly reveal the individual dislocations that constitute partial disclination dipoles in nanocrystalline, body-centered cubic iron that had undergone severe plastic deformation by mechanical milling. The mechanisms by which the...

Modelling of Flow Behaviour of Metals by Means of a Dislocation-Disclination Reaction Kinetics

A four-component reaction kinetics for the densities of mobile and non-excess sessile dislocations and of mobile and immobile disclinations is proposed to describe the mi-crostructure development under plastic deformation up to large strains. The densities of non-excess sessile dislocations and of immobile disclinations are connected to ow stress contributions. For the dislocation contribution,...

Effect of Severe Plastic Deformation on Structure and Properties of Al-Sc-Ta and Al-Sc-Ti Alloys

The comparative analysis of the effect of monotonous and non-monotonous severe plastic deformations (SPD) on the structure and properties of aluminum alloys has been carried out. Conventional hydrostatic extrusion (HE) with a constant deformation direction and equal-channel angular hydroextrusion (ECAH) with an abrupt change in the deformation direction were chosen for the cases of monotonous a...

Effect of Fe additive on plastic deformation for crush-boxes with closed-cell metal foams, Part I: Al-composite foam compression response

AbstractIn this paper, we investigate effect of Fe–intermetallic compounds on plastic deformation of closed-cell composite Aluminum Foam as filler of thin-walled tubes. However, deformation of the Aluminum foam-filled thin-walled tubes as crushed-box will be presented in Part (II). Composite foams of AlSi7SiC3 and AlSi7SiC3-(Fe) as closed cell were synthesized by powder metallurgy foaming metho...
